“Adopt-a-Pond” Project

We engage in routine sampling and analysis of water drawn from seven ponds in the Town of Southampton, our goal being to assess and characterize the quality of our local ponds, and, by extension, assess the state of the watershed as a whole. These pond characterizations include the presence of a toxic form of blue-green algae, invasive species of freshwater fish, and the water chemistry and land use activities that create unhealthy and potentially harmful environmental conditions for both humans and our local wildlife.
