Peconic Community School

The Citizen Science Learning Center (CSLC) has partnered with Peconic Community School (PCS) to launch its "Adopt-a-Pond" program at Laurel Lake Preserve, giving students hands-on experience in environmental science. Funded by a 2025 Peconic Estuary Partnership grant, the initiative involves PCS students in biodiversity mapping, water quality testing, and ecological monitoring throughout the year. Led by CSLC founder Bob Mozer, the program aims to teach students how to use GIS technology and collect real-time environmental data, while promoting early detection of issues like algae blooms. The project also supports PCS's commitment to immersive, community-based learning.
